Cranc is an audio post production facility based in Cardiff, South Wales, providing dubbing for documentaries; commercials; promos, animation and drama with sound design and tracklaying for all of the above.

Studios & Facilities.
Studio 1 // Tv Post
Studio 1 features the very latest in audio technology. Groovy Pro Tools control surface built upon a rock solid Pro Tools HD Accel system packed with essential audio tools and crazy plugins. Genelec near field monitoring and JBL Control 1's for TV backup. Large Monitor for client viewing. Loaded with pre-digitized - fully searchable sound effects system for instant sonic gratification. Comfortable control room area, with desk for working and vocal booth.

Studio 2 // Tv Post

Studio 3 // Tv Post and 5.1 Surround Mixing
Studio 3 features a brand new Digidesign ICON ES console, Pro Tools HD system and Genelec 5.1 surround sound system. The large control room was designed for 5.1 surround mixing and has all the gizmos needed for High Def delivery formats. The large booth is a custom designed space built by IAC Acoustics and has multiple Mic sources and can accomodate up to 10 people. See more pics in the Gallery.

Tracklaying
Tracklaying is an affordable way to prepare projects for studio mixing. The Tracklay room has access to the same huge bank of sound effects as the studios and can also access our whole projects archive to find any sound at our fingertips. Tracklay is best suited to long form projects like drama, animation e.t.c. The Tracklay room is also suited to intense sound design on short form projects.


ISDN Connectivity
For connections to other ISDN equipped studios, our CDQ Prima codec offers high quality lines to anywhere in the world. We regularly connect to studios and individuals in London, Australia, and both coasts of the US. Our ISDN number is +44 (0)29 20555 416 (x2). We can record with Talent based elsewhere or connect to other studios with an artist present at our facilities.

Media Formats
We can accept and ingest material from a variety of tape based and file formats. Pictures sources can be from WMV, H.264 files or other codecs, as long as the audio is sent separately as OMF or AAF. We have on site, for both liftoff and layback, Digibeta, HDCAM and HDCAM SR and can cater for all split track variants as well as Dolby E encoded audio.

Dafydd Jones // Dubbing Mixer
Daf is 43 - married with 3 kids but just 1 wife. He has over 18 years experience in audio post having tracklayed and mixed a vast array of projects.



Greg Provan // Tracklaying / Co-ordinator
60's Coupe - Sport Model. Engine in great running order bodywork in need of some minor attention. One owner is non smoker, reliable/loyal and hard working - GSOH. Old legs given new lease of life with fab new bike. Impeccable references - please contact for more info.....

Steve Castle // Dubbing Mixer
Schooled in audio technology and acoustics, Steve has been a full time dubbing mixer for over a decade. Steve is also a self confessed Mac/Photo/Video/Social Networking geek, so get him to fix your laptop while you dub!

Sean Richards // Tracklaying / Sound Design
Sean arrives at Cranc after a circuitous route which included living in South America for 20 years. Sean is married and has identical twin girls which is causing his ginger hair to rapidly turn grey. With 10 years experience in sound design for animation, film, drama and docs, he's at his happiest when tracklaying, so if you need any choice phrases for your next holiday in Spain, or a great soundtrack for your production, don't hesitate to give him a call!

Cranc started in 2005 and is proud to have worked on a wide variety of different projects with many broadcasters. With over 40 years experience between us we know what we're doing, having worked on everything from the low budget local radio ad to high profile network drama. Our aim is to create studios where the emphasis is on creativity and quality of work in a happy atmosphere. We maintain high standards on all our output from local broadcasting to worldwide high definition requirements. Our current projects include work for BBC Wales, S4/C, BBC Network, Channel 5, Discovery and the first ever Welsh co-production with Al Jazeera. We have recently taken on hot new talent and have expanded our Studio facilities to meet the demands of our ever growing client list.
